Louis Murray DVM - Chirp Veterinary Mentor

Dr. Louise Murray earned her BS from Duke University and her veterinary degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, and continued there for her residency program in small animal internal medicine, becoming board-certified as an internal medicine specialist.

Dr. Murray practiced internal medicine in private referral practice in Maryland and then in New York City, also serving as internship program director and co-supervisor of the residency program in internal medicine and critical care. She then joined the national ASPCA, initially in the role of medical director, internship program director, and internal medicine residency program director; later, she served as the ASPCA Vice President overseeing the ASPCA Animal Hospital. After a rewarding 12 years with the ASPCA, Dr. Murray decided to rekindle her first love, directly providing medical care to canine and feline patients, and returned to private practice in Westchester and NYC.

Dr. Murray has published on the topics of thyroid disease,  prostatic disease, transfusion medicine, and canine starvation.

One of Dr. Murray’s lifelong goals is to share information to improve the lives of dogs and cats; she authored a consumer’s guide to veterinary medicine, Vet Confidential, which was published by Random House in 2008, and has appeared in many media venues including local and national television, radio and print. She lives in Westchester County, NY, and when not at the office can be found gardening, serving as her son’s personal chef and social secretary, or working at the computer with the world’s most affectionate cat draped around her neck.
