Kim Cross DVM - Chirp Mentor

A graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, Kim Cross, DVM, is a small animal general practice veterinarian. She was born and raised in Texas but moved to Maryland in 2014 with her husband who previously was in the USAF. Dr. Cross still lives in Maryland with her husband, 3 young sons, and her cat. She started clinical practice in Texas as a rural mixed animal veterinarian, then transitioned to corporate small animal general practice veterinary medicine soon after. A few years later and after the move to Maryland, she transitioned to practicing small animal medicine at a private practice, and subsequently transitioned to small animal general practice relief veterinary services and small animal telehealth.

Dr. Cross currently works part time to enable her flexibility with her 3 young boys. Dr. Cross works on a limited basis with JustAnswer and Vetster for veterinary telehealth, and enjoys helping clients with advice and triage help when they are unable to otherwise get answers or care.

She is very active in the Relief Veterinary Medical Association (RVMA) that was established in 2022 and scheduled to go live in 2023. In addition, Dr. Cross is the Director of Digital Communications for RVMA. She is passionate about helping PEOPLE above all else. She had many mentors and other veterinarians support her throughout her career from rural mixed animal medicine to small animal medicine to telehealth to relief veterinary medicine. As an active officer in RVMA, she hopes to support other relief veterinarians on their journey. As a Chirp Mentor, Dr. Cross hopes to support other younger veterinarians along their paths as well.

Dr. Cross has many interests including but not limited to client communication, oncology, dentistry, dermatology, behavior, and infectious diseases. She is an active member in DVMoms Community and appreciates the encouraging support she has received and can give to other veterinarian mothers over the years.  Additionally, Dr. Cross strives to ensure that she has an appropriate work-life balance and tries to support her colleagues to do the same. Mental health has taken a toll on our profession, and she hopes to be available to support those she connects with to hopefully slow the mental health crisis in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Cross enjoys building relationships with her staff, hospitals, clients, specialists, and other veterinary colleagues she has known over the years. She entered veterinary medicine with the goal of enriching the lives of the pet owners by improving the human-animal bond and caring for their pets.
